Create an attribute group
- In the WooCoomerce admin backend open, Products -> Attribute Group
- Insert a new name in the field 'Name' and click 'Add New Attribute Group'
Edit an attribute group
- In the WooCoomerce admin backend open, Products -> Attribute Group
- Click on an existing attribute group name or click on the 'Edit' link when hovering over the attribute group name
Add attributes to an attribute group
- In the WooCoomerce admin backend open, Products -> Attribute Group
- Click on the link 'Configure Attributes' on the right-side table of the desired attribute group
- Select the attribute from the list and click 'Add attribute'
Sorting
Attribute Group:
- The same sorting of the attribute groups is used when displaying the contained attributes on the product page.
- To change the sorting hover over the sort handle (hamburger icon) on the most right-side of the table.
Attributes within a group:
- Further the same sorting of the attributes itself is used when displaying the attributes on the product page.
- To change the sorting open an attribute group, click on 'Configure Attributes' and then hover over the sort handle (hamburger icon) on the most right-side of the table.
Current limitation - Using the same attribute in two groups for the same product:
Unfortunately there are some technical limitations, mostly due to the nature how WordPress and WooCommerce are structured. Hopefully one day they all will get resolved.
When using the same attribute in multiple groups, it is strongly advised to use only one of these groups for the same product afterwards.
For example an attribute Resolution with terms like Full-HD or 4K could be part of a group Screen (like the resolution of a monitor), but also of another group Camera (like the resolution the camera is able to take pictures with). When both groups are used for a product like a mobile phone it is not possible to assign to this attribute different values for each of the two groups. This results in arbitrary and wrong rendering. This is a limitation in WordPress/WooCommerce.
To circumvent the issue this plugin has a feature to duplicate existing attributes. On the attributes page you will find the Duplicate action when hovering over an attribute name on the right-side table.
